Starter Packs for the Homeless

Integrating the CELYN mutual credit system and Community Fridge projects, Starter Packs for the Homeless aims to provide employment opportunities to people who are newly accommodated and looking to get back into work.

With the Covid-19 pandemic having left thousands of homeless people vulnerable to illness, accommodating these people is a priority for governments. Circular Economy Wales, in partnership with the Welsh Government, is seeking to produce guidance for the Social PfR network on how it can prepare ‘starter packs’ for homeless people moving into accommodation.

Starter packs may include furniture, clothing, bedding, rugs and electrical items. Through the PfR network, Circular Economy Wales hopes that the newly accommodated people will then be able to volunteer or work in Community Fridges, with payment in the form of CELYN.
